MOLALLA, OREGON: Molalla School Board passed a Resolution declaring November, Parents' Partnership In Education Month, affirming "the constitutional right of parents to direct the education and upbringing of their children." Molalla board members decided to call it a Resolution instead of a Proclamation, and changed one word in the title from Rights to Partnership. See Molalla Resolution Here
What About Parents?
Supreme Court decisions have repeatedly supported Parents’ Rights, especially in relation to public schools. The organizational model with an elected board member, was designed to represent citizens and parents wishes in the community. However, with increasing pressure from outside forces, local control is under attack.
Taking back local control.
PRIE foresees this rural district, Molalla will set a new standard. Parents are going to engage not only in their schools, but School Board elections will take on a new focus for the better.
Only one school Board member cast a dissenting vote. Attached is the local news article, Molalla School Board Passes Controversial Proclamation. Why would including parents in school decision making be called controversial? READ MORE...
