MOLALLA, OREGON:  Molalla School Board passed a Resolution declaring November, Parents' Partnership In Education Month, affirming "the constitutional right of parents to direct the education and upbringing of their children." Molalla board members decided to call it a Resolution instead of a Proclamation, and changed one word in the title from Rights to Partnership. What About Parents?
Supreme Court decisions have repeatedly supported Parents’ Rights, especially in relation to public schools. The organizational model with an elected board member, was designed to represent citizens and parents wishes in the community. However, with increasing pressure from outside forces, local control is under attack.

Taking back local control.
PRIE foresees this rural district, Molalla will set a new standard. Parents are going to engage not only in their schools, but School Board elections will take on a new focus for the better.

Only one school Board member cast a dissenting vote. Attached is the local news article, Molalla School Board Passes Controversial Proclamation. Why would including parents in school decision making be called controversial?  READ MORE...

PARENTS' RIGHTS must be protected and affirmed!

We are calling school boards across the nation to endorse a PROCLAMATION naming NOVEMBER, Parents’ Rights In Education Month!

Why NOVEMBER?
In 2005 the 9th Circuit stole Parents’ Rights. Presiding over Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, and Hawaii, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals found in Fields v. Palmdale School District  "that the Meyer-Pierce right [of parents to direct the upbringing of their children] does not exist beyond the threshold of the school door."

The court stated, "We conclude that the parents are possessed of no constitutional right to prevent the public schools from providing information on the subject [of sexuality] to their students in any forum or manner they select.”

These efforts compromise the unalienable rights of parents to raise their children with the value system they choose, and are contrary to the spirit of the local public school district, by mandating parents’ rights do not exist.
